Throughout the Adaptive Technologies Podcast and Ch.4 reading I learned about a multitude of technologies that help support learners. For learners with visual impairments, adaptive technologies can be input devices such as voice recognition softwares or joysticks instead of mouses, or output devices such as magnified screens, softwares that read aloud text, or brail keyboards or printers. There are a multitude of technologies that help support those of varying disabilities. For example, I have a friend who has Parkinson's disease and uses Liftware to consume his meals. This gadget stabilizes the movement of utensils while eating. In terms of challenges perceived while using adaptive technologies in my classroom, I foresee there being issues with technologies that produce noise that could be distracting to other students. A simple solution to this would be the implementation of headphones. Just like in any aspect of teaching, I plan to use Powerpoint to effe...

I believe there are various benefits to using Twitter. It allows people to network, engage in social media, and communicate and share ideas anywhere in the world. While using Twitter I've learned to better summarize my statements to fit a 140 character count. However, I have not enjoyed using Twitter in an academic setting. Rather than engaging and exchanging information, I find students to randomly post statements just to achieve a grade. In my opinion, there are other technologies that would be of better use in a classroom (i.e. Diigo). I picked up multiple skills while working on my Web Page Design. I learned the value of color schemes and a e s t h e t i c s, how to eliminate negative space, and how to effectively hyper link and insert media into a website.  Although I appreciate Weebly's help in using the grid system,  I found it hard to drag and drop text boxes and images into desired positions. Now  that I understand the various modalities ...

I went onto the Chiles High School website. From here I selected "Fine & Performing Arts" link and was directed to various fine art teachers and their class websites. Publicly, I saw a synopsis of the teacher's past education and job experiences. Additionally, various links were provided to give extra information on the classes taught, a class calendar, and announcements regarding multiple classes. https://www.leonschools.net/Page/32989 I envision using various technologies in the classroom as a professional educator. I want to use a class website to effectively communicate to my students about outside homework. Additionally, I would like to use Remind to help students stay aware of upcoming projects and assignments. Finally, I'd like to incorporate podcasts as a form of learning in my classroom. I feel as though they help audio learners like myself, and hold the attention of students better than independent reading. While visiting the Technology ...

ILP “Design” – Google Classroom

For my first Independent Learning Project I created a sociology classroom environment. Here, I posted announcements, assignments, and questions for my students to do outside of the classroom. Website link:  https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/NTgyODg1MjE4OVpa Student code: m2dlck

I found various Web 2.0 technologies such as blogs and twitter to be very useful in a classroom setting. Classroom blogs easily allow students and teachers to effectively communicate and share ideas on a digital platform. Twitter's modalities such as tweeting and sharing information can also be helpful in an educational setting. Due to many students already being familiar with Twitter and it's functions, it makes for an easy introduction in the class curriculum. Conversely, I found Web 2.0 technologies such as Wiki and Diigo to be less useful. Both are often unfamiliar to students, so additional instruction and training is needed to effectively use these sites. Though both prove to be good technological assets in the classroom, I do not find them to be as necessary as blogs and social medias. As a teacher, I would like to instill Remind in my classroom. Formerly known as Remind101, I had various instructors use this Web 2.0 tool during my educational career and I found it ve...
